Lorie Mells-McGlashan, B.A., ASP®
Accredited Home Staging Professional and Redesign Consultant

Savvy Sellers Home Staging and Redesign founder, Lorie Mells-McGlashan, is a naturally gifted artist who was born with a passion to create and appreciate beautiful objects and spaces. But what distinguishes Lorie from other home staging professionals is the wealth of real world experience she has garnered from working in diverse occupations unrelated to her current profession, including visual merchandising, proposal development, desktop publishing, and graphic design.  Through her work in seemingly disparate occupations, Lorie has developed a unique skill set that has proven to be invaluable to her work as a home staging professional.

Through her early work as a visual merchandising professional for a leading retailer of women’s fashions, Lorie honed a keen understanding of how to combine colors, textures and shapes to create stunning visual displays designed to intrigue customers and stimulate sales.

In her later work as a proposal developer for a large contract research organization, Lorie worked as part of a team under strict, and often very short, deadlines to develop detailed proposals for submission to pharmaceutical companies seeking to outsource their clinical trial research studies.  Through this work she demonstrated her ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with her teammates, develop detailed cost proposals and budgets, and adhere to stringent deadlines; all of which are germane to her work as a home stager.

Lorie earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology at the prestigious Occidental College in Los Angeles, California in 1981. The predilection to study psychology came as naturally to Lorie as her proclivity to seek outlets for her creativity. Lorie’s understanding of human motivation and emotion and the psychology of color have been instrumental in her work as a home stager.

Further adding to Lorie’s qualifications is the exceptional training she underwent to earn the designation of Accredited Staging Professional®.  ASP home stagers are recognized in the industry as being highly qualified and well trained, and they are considered valuable assets to any real estate sales team.  Research conducted by the International Association of Home Staging Professionals shows that, statistically, an ASP-staged home will spend fewer days on market and command a higher sales price than a comparable un-staged home, which keeps ASP home stagers, like Lorie, busy and in high demand … and that’s just how she likes it!

When she’s not working, Lorie is a “homebody” who devotes herself to caring for her family, including her 18-year-old daughter, three dogs, two cats and … oh yes, her husband of 18 years! Even her 28-year-old son – a PhD candidate at UCLA – still needs a little help from time to time!
